“The human race is filled with passion.”

Hello to anyone who has just found SQUATISATTVA. My goal is for this to be a place that will inspire you to live happier, brighter days, with more intention & purpose.

SQUATISATTVA comes from the Buddhist word, Bodhisattva; the first part of the name obviously comes from my obsession with squats.

A Bodhisattva is a living being, driven by compassion, that has decided to dedicate his or her life to the enlightenment and for the benefit of all other living beings.

And because I really do care about your spiritual, mental, emotional, & physical health, I will remind you many times throughout videos and printable workouts/recipes to…
…DROP IT LIKE A SQUAT!
(your butt will thank me.)

Check back often for videos and posts about:
– Healthy eating (primarily the “Raw Till 4” 801010 vegan diet… Don’t worry if you’re confused, there will be many posts & videos coming soon — super excited to share!!)
– Workouts for different body types ands goals (if you’re looking to lose a lot of weight, HIIT. Want a dancer’s body? Pilates.)

I’ve also been wanting to share my thoughts on yesterday’s tragedy…

The title of this post is from Robin William’s 1989 film, Dead Poets Society.

When my friends and I heard the news of his passing yesterday, we were all in shock. Rarely, rarely does the death of a film star hit so close to home for an entire generation. I was a little taken aback by all of the grieving that I saw over social media, but I can’t deny that I, too, felt the need to mourn the loss of a friend.

Because he was a friend. He was a lovely man with a genuine smile and a big heart. He used his charisma and talent to fit seamlessly into the roles that we fell in love with him for. He reminded us of the uncle that used to sneak us candy when our parents said no.
He devoted his passion to us, but he left before we ever got to know him.

He deserves our gratitude for all of the laughter, tears, & memories he shared with us; and for reminding us that we must use our compassion now, today. He deserves us to carry on the legacy that he’s left behind: Don’t be afraid to smile or reach out to people. Don’t be so caught up in pressures and/or areas of life that won’t matter in ten, twenty years, that you forget to be present in your life now.

“There is nothing better that you can give to a person than to be present with them. When you are fully present, you become love, and you share that becoming with others.”
-Kuan Yin

Rest in peace, dear friend. You won’t be forgotten. Namaste.

“Boys, you must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, ‘Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.’ Don’t be resigned to that. Break out!”
-Robin Williams, Dead Poets Society
